With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters, we wanted to look back at this awesome video from 2018. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon staff told fans that they were shooting videos to send to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, thanking him and telling him what the movie means to them. But they had King T'Challa himself hidden behind the curtain, ready to step out and surprise them. This was beautiful and touching at the time, but it's even more-so in the wake of Boseman's tragic passing. It's really striking to watch these fans expressing their feelings about the movie and his performance, and to see how much the outpouring of love clearly meant to him.
There's also this lovely video Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever co-star Lupita Nyong'o shared from back in 2018 of Boseman signing whatever fans handed him...movie tickets, Jordans, whatever.
The new movie is very much about the loss of Chadwick Boseman and much of the publicity and promotion for the film has focused on the cast and filmmakers paying tribute to their friend. But they've also managed to work in some fun along the way. One of the highlights of the cast promoting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been seeing Kenyan-Mexican Lupita Nyong'o dancing merengue and mambo with Mexican co-stars Tenoch Huerta and Mabel Cadena.
