Restaurant’s Dress Code Goes Viral For Banning Leggings & More

These days, people seem to dress a lot more casually than ever before. It’s not uncommon to see people running errands wearing pajama pants, slippers, clothing that’s so ripped it’s barely hanging on or something ultra revealing. But one North Carolina restaurant is taking a stand by enforcing a dress code and some folks aren’t too happy about it.

Over the weekend, Kim’s Kafe in Greensboro posted their rules about clothing on their Facebook page, noting that they’ve been in effect all summer. The post asks people to respect their dress code and points out that “people are not leaving anything for the imagination” and they admit their “dress code is strict.” The rules include:

  • No shorts
  • No crop tops
  • No leggings
  • No T-straps
  • No white T-shirts
  • No short skirts
  • No "skimpy clothes"
  • No "cleavage showing"

The Facebook post has gotten more than 10-thousand comments in the last few days, including some from people outraged by the rules. A lot of commenters even compare them to the dystopian world in the book, “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

  • “I done got kicked out before I even got there,” one user writes.
  • Another shares, “I’d literally have to buy clothes to go to your business.”
  • “I'm assuming the owner's husband runs the front end and can't be trusted,” one comments.
  • "It's summer and you don't allow shorts or white tee shirts? Ha Good luck," posts another.
