Sex workers in Belgium are getting some serious respect and benefits from their country’s government.
A new law makes Belgium the first country in the world to “approve a labor law and employment contracts” for sex workers.
Under the law, sex workers are now entitled to “health insurance, pensions, unemployment and family benefits, and maternity leave.”
In addition, if a prostitute “refuses a client more than ten times over six months,” a pimp can “trigger an intervention by a government mediator” but the sex worker “can’t be sacked.”
