CNN crew arrested while covering the unrest in Minneapolis has been released from custody.
State Police officers arrested CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez, producer Bill Kirkos, and photojournalist Leonel Mendez while doing a live report around 6 a.m. Eastern Time.
They were released after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz apologized to CNN president Jeff Zucker and said the arrests were unacceptable.
Thursday was a third straight night of violent protests over the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, who died Monday after a police officer knelt on his neck for over five minutes.
Floyd was lying on the ground, handcuffed, and repeatedly pleaded that he couldn't breathe.
That officer and three others have been fired.
