Antonio Hernandez was taking out the garbage at Evans Street Car Wash in Greenville, North Carolina, when he spotted something valuable: a $1,200 stimulus check. He grabbed it, along with a bill with the recipient’s address and his daughter, Michelle Alvarado, helped him get it back to its rightful owner.
Michelle left a note for the recipient, Charles Thompson, at his address, but a new tenant called telling her he had moved. That guy said he must’ve tossed Thompson’s check by mistake. After putting the word out on social media, she heard back from Thompson’s girlfriend and got the check to him.
He is very grateful for their efforts to track him down and says the money couldn’t have come at a better time since he works construction and is behind on his rent. The Army vet says it’s “a miracle” they got the check to him and thanks them for making it happen.
