The University of Akron is eliminating three sports teams to help fill a coronavirus-related budget hole.
Officials announced yesterday that the men's golf and cross country teams, and women's tennis squad will be discontinued.
The program cuts will help reduce the athletic department's budget by nearly four-and-a-half-million-dollars. Nearly three-dozen UA student-athletes will be affected.
