Governor DeWine Announces Target Date For Several Re-Openings

Governor Mike DeWine says the state's daycares will begin re-opening under new guidelines on May 31st.

DeWine spoke yesterday about several types of businesses that will be allowed to resume operations this month including campgrounds on May 21st, horse racing on May 22nd, and gyms and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles on May 26th.

DeWine said parents would need to plan as restrictions will limit the number of children in daycares to six per classroom and prepare for routine temperature checks as well as intensified cleaning practices.

Guidance for the protocols that are needed to be followed at various businesses can be found online at coronavirus.ohio.gov

Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted says public pools across the state will be allowed to re-open later this month.

Husted announced yesterday that pools could begin operating again on May 26th, which is a day after the traditional yearly Memorial Day opening.

Husted said the decision is based on evidence showing COVID-19 cannot be spread through water in pools, hot tubs, spas, and water play areas, which are usually treated with chlorine as a disinfectant. The order does not include amusement parks or water parks.
