Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren brought Kelly Clarkson to tears while talking about their adoption of daughter Willa Gray during their recent appearance on her talk show.
According to Lauren, adoption was something that she and Thomas had talked about but they never “sat down and had, like, a full-on adoption conversation." But then she went on a trip to Uganda with the organization 146 Orphans and met Willa and she knew she had to find her a forever home.
“I was, like, so moved. I mean, the second I touched her, it was, like, electric," she shared. "I was like, 'Oh my word. This little girl has just taken my heart.' I was like, 'Honey, we've gotta find her her forever home. Like, I know that's why I'm here is to get this girl to her home.'"
Kelly was so moved by the story she instantly began tearing up, cracking, “Oh my God. You totally Oprah'ed me just now. I did my own makeup and this is not waterproof.”
Thomas adds that after the conversation he just knew they had to bring her home. “I don't fully remember even saying it," he said, "It was such a spiritual thing for me that it just came out of my body and literally two weeks after, we were having home assessments and talking to adoption agencies."
