Everybody loves getting flowers and sometimes a little splash of color is just what you need to brighten a dull day. A family in Winters, California, is spreading joy by secretly dropping off flowers at strangers’ houses all over their city.
Mike McClain, his wife Michelle, and their daughter Mieka, with the help of local florist, Roxie's Flower Truck, have been delivering blooms to random people’s doorsteps while everyone’s been isolated during the coronavirus lockdown.
Meika, who the family has dubbed “The Flower Ninja” stealthily delivers the flowers with a note asking the recipient to share a photo on theirFlower Ninja Facebook page. "It makes me happy to see other people happy and smile," Mieka says. "I like doing it cause everyone is inside and can’t go anywhere, and it is super fun."
The McClain family is coming off a rough year where Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in the third month of her pregnancy. Fortunately, the baby was born healthy and mom’s in remission now. During the ordeal, they received lots of support from their community. It’s this kindness that inspired them to start their project. "Everybody needs a little love right now.” Michelle says, “We got all the attention and love when we needed it so we figured we'll spread some of the love we got."
