As tenants in the U.S. suffer hardships from the coronavirus pandemic, some landlords are said to be taking advantage of the situation to sexually harass them for rent.
The New Post reports various media outlets have uncovered accounts of landlords trying to coerce their tenants into "sex-for-rent" agreements.
In Hawaii, more than ten complaints of that nature have been reported to a women's commission since the outbreak took off.
And, in Chicago, local organizations like Open Communities report a threefold increase in sexual harassment complaints related to housing within the last month.
Experts say victims may be more vulnerable to likely serial offenders while they are strapped for cash during statewide lockdowns.
