The Blue Jackets blew a two-goal first-period lead then forced overtime in a 4-3 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils.
CBJ rookie Andrew Peeke got the scoring started with his first career NHL goal in the first period followed four minutes later by a score from Zach Werenski for an early lead the Jackets would give up in the second period.
Kevin Stenlund netted the game-tying goal in the third for the CBJ to send the game to overtime, where Columbus would fall in a shootout 2-1.
The Blue Jackets will now prepare for the first part of a home-and-home series with the Flyers with the first game on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
