GOODYEAR, AZ--- The Guardians are making their final adjustments heading into another postseason push starting in just less then a week in Seattle, they defeated the Chicago Cubs Friday night 5-3 in spring training play.

These 2 teams wasted no time getting going early, as the Cubs would get back-to-back RBI doubles from Edwin Rios and Luis Torrens, but in the home half of the inning, Jose Ramirez and Josh Bell would hit back to back solo bombs to tie the game at 2, hopefully a preview of many to come form the 2 sluggers this season. In the 5th inning, a similar scenario, a Cub score followed by the Guardians answering right back, the Cubs would score on a Tucker Barnhart SAC fly, the bottom half of that inning? A rare Myles Straw home run on the first pitch of the inning. The Guardians then used the 6th inning to gain their 5-3 lead with Meibrys Viloria and Will Brennan driving in what would end up being the winning runs. Zach Plesac was the starter for the Guardians today, he would pitch 5 innings, give up 5 hits, 3 runs and strikeout 6.

Something to look out for was Gabriel Arias being struck in the hand by a pitch early in the game, it's definitely something to keep an eye on as last year, Arias suffered a broken right hand.

The Guardians next and last spring training broadcast will be on Sunday as they take on the Cincinnati Reds, first pitch will be at 4:05.
