Ohio Community Unites To Help Wheelchair-Bound Homeless Man

Earlier this week, neighbors in Amelia, Ohio, came together to help Benjamin Best, a homeless man in a wheelchair who was found asleep behind a shed. Lamenuel Scales, known online as "Hilarious Scales," received a message about Best's situation and quickly shared the story with his 57-thousand social media followers. His post prompted an outpouring of support from the community.

Acting on the post, One Way Church stepped in to provide Best with a hotel room, clean clothes, and food. Church member and recovering addict Ryan Kersey, who experienced homelessness for over three years, stressed the urgency of helping in the cold weather. “It’s so cold out there,” he said, “I mean, you can literally die.”

The community rallied to provide Best with hats, gloves, and other necessities. He expressed deep gratitude for the kindness shown to him, noting that moments like this remind him of the good in the world, saying, “The good outweighs the bad with the people in this country.”
