Kidnapped 13-Year-Old Rescued From Sex Trafficking During Traffic Stop

Georgia police rescue a 13-year-old girl they believe was being trafficked for sex. Police in Canton, Georgia, pulled over a vehicle because the driver was using a cell phone while driving. The female driver couldn’t produce an I.D., so police ran the vehicle registration and found out it was reported stolen in North Carolina.

A search of the vehicle produced a bunch of drug contraband and a “large amount of lingerie,” prompting police to bring in investigators who discovered the driver was 16 years old and she was transporting the 13-year-old passenger to another state. Police believe the younger girl was a victim of human trafficking and kidnapping.

They arrested the driver on charges including trafficking, kidnapping, and possession of a controlled substance. The victim was reunited with her family. Canton Chief of Police Stephen Merrifield praised his officers for their exceptional work that “forever changed a young girl’s life for the better.“
