Legendary rocker Gene Simmons tweeted "My heart is broken."
The Kiss member went on to say "Eddie was not only a Guitar God, but a genuinely beautiful soul."
On Twitter, Billy Idol posted a collage of photos of himself and Van Halen with the caption "Rest in peace guitar legend. We will miss you."
