The Cleveland Indians survived a late-inning rally from the Royals to complete a 5-2 victory last night at Progressive Field.
Tribe starter Zach Plesac scattered seven hits over seven innings while striking out four and Tyler Naquin had two RBIs to get Cleveland the early lead.
The Royals scored late runs in the seventh and eighth innings before Indians closer Brad Hand came in to strike out the side in the ninth for his 12th save.
The two teams will match up again tonight with first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m.
