Indians Lose First Game Of Critical Central Division Showdown To Minnesota

The Cleveland Indians pounded out 12 hits but couldn't score enough runs in a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field.

Tribe second baseman Cesar Hernandez homered in the first inning for an early lead, but Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda settled down to keep the Tribe from scoring over the next four innings while Minnesota hitters plated three runs.

Carlos Santana hit a run-scoring single off the Twins' bullpen in the seventh, but that was it for any rally.

Cleveland can now work to even the three-game series tonight when they play the Twins again with first pitch from Progressive Field set for 7:10 p.m.
