Taylor Swift fans love to dissect everything she gives them, including her videos. Well, now Taylor is solving some puzzles for them, decoding some of the Easter eggs in her “Cardigan” video, with a new making-of video.
As part of Vevo’s Footnotes series, Taylor reveals some interesting deets about the clip, sharing that the photo of the old man on the wall early in the clip is her grandfather Dean. She also reveals that the clock above the piano is set at one and three because, as we all know, 13 is Tay’s favorite number. There’s also a painting of a white house over the piano, which Taylor painted herself the first week of quarantine.
The video also reveals that there are three "Folklore" songs Taylor refers to as “The Teenage Love Triangle,” and notes that it shares three different perspectives. She explains, “It’s like this one event happened in their town and it affected them each differently.
She also opens up about working with The National’s Aaron Dessner, sharing that they met at one of his band’s shows in Brooklyn about a year ago, and they talked about writing, with Aaron revealing that his group works “remotely a lot.”
"When quarantine hit and I found myself wanting to write, I reached out and he was really wanting to create too,” she shares. “It's been one of the most effortless collaborations and I'm very lucky to have met him."
