First Players Opt Out Of Returning To Baseball Over COVID Concerns

Baseball has its first players opting out of returning this season because of concerns over COVID-19.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Mike Leake announced through his agent that he wouldn't be playing this season.

The 32-year-old right hander was scheduled to make 16-million-dollars in 2020, had a full season been played.

Later in the afternoon, a pair of Washington Nationals announced they wouldn't be reporting to camp July 1st because of the coronavirus.

Ryan Zimmerman and Joe Ross both cited family reasons for their choice.

Both players were members of the team when they won the World Series last season.
