Another country music group is changing its name to remove a controversial reference.
The Dixie Chicks changed their name to The Chicks yesterday in an apparent effort to distance themselves from a name often associated with the slavery-era South.
A quote on the Texas band's website said they wanted to "meet this moment."
There was no further official statement, only the release of a new song titled "March March" and an accompanying video featuring references to past and current public protests over everything from racial justice to LGBTQ rights.
As you may recall, Lady Antebellum renamed themselves Lady A earlier this month.
