The metal band GWAR is trying to have a little fun with the ongoing protests and the removal of a Confederate civil war statue from their hometown of Richmond, Virginia with an odd campaign.
The group whose shows are known for disembowelments of caricatures of famous people, including presidents, is supporting a campaign to replace a statue of Robert E. Lee with one of their late frontman, Oderus Urungus.
The band posted a video of their drummer admiring the graffiti-covered statue and urged viewers to sign a change.org petition for the replacement and calls on fans to donate to the Richmond COVID-19 Arts and Culture Relief Fund.
The initiative already has over 40-thousand signatures.
