#GoodNews: Donations Pour In To Help Store Owner Reopen After Looting

Looters destroyed a clothing store in Chicago and stole $350-thousand of merchandise, but thanks to the kindness of strangers, the owner is on his way to getting it back.

Hak Tong Kim, owner of “City Fashions” says he lost everything after the looting, leaving him devastated. He had no plans to reopen his store, but his daughter Hannah shared a heartfelt post on Facebook.

“My first generation Korean parents worked blood, sweat, and tears to establish a proud business of their own,” she writes. Hannah explains that her parent’s small business insurance doesn’t cover stolen goods and damages caused by looters, adding, “As such, my parents essentially lost their business in its entirety.”

But here’s where the GOOD news part comes in. Kim’s community stepped up, a GoFundMewas set up and in less than two weeks, over $200-thousand has been raised to help him reopen his business.
