Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton is stepping down from her role to become the governor's chief health advisor.
Governor DeWine announced yesterday that Acton felt it was time to step down as coronavirus cases have flattened.
Acton was appointed Health Director in February 2019, and DeWine said she would continue to focus on COVID-19 as his advisor.
Acton's decisions during the start of the pandemic were met with criticism from right-wing activists and praise from national health officials, with DeWine adding that countless lives were saved because of her guidance.
