John Cena has followed the lead of BTS and donated a million dollars to Black Lives Matter. As we told you, the K-Pop band and their management company gave the money to the activist group founded in 2013 in response to the death of Trayvon Martin. Then their fans – the BTS Army – got together to match the band’s donation. Their #MatchedAMillion initiative surpassed their goal earlier this week.
The pro wrestler-turned-action star tweeted, “Very happy to join #BTSArmy in efforts to match [BTS’] tremendous donation.”
In a separate tweet, Cena touched on what made him give the funds. “Change is never easy because it takes us admitting that our efforts and methods may be flawed to a point of severe distortion,” he noted. “Be brave and open minded in these moments. Welcome ideas and limit excuses. Change is uncomfortable but can yield much more joy for all in the long run.”
