#GoodNews: Tot’s Salute During Cop’s Funeral Earns Him Deputy Status

A three-year-old boy from Georgia who wants to be a police officer one day is being recognized for being respectful while honoring one of his heroes, a fallen officer. Little Cohen Chastain showed up at the funeral for Polk County police officer Detective Kristen Hearne, who died in the line of duty, wearing a superhero police uniform and saluting every officer that passed him.

This little guy was so moved by being there that he stood still for two hours! And he impressed the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office with his actions, so they rewarded him with a toy electric police cruiser he can sit in and drive, complete with a personalized “Deputy Cohen” sticker on it. Cohen was delighted by the car and getting to spend time with his real life heroes.

“We wanted to bless Cohen for his selfless act of support and love,” The Floyd County Sheriff’s office writes in a Facebook post. “But, once again, we were blessed by him beyond measure. God bless you abundantly and keep you safe Cohen!”
