We could use more kindness in the world and eight-year-old Harper Henderson is doing her part to make it happen. The third-grader from San Antonio, Texas has started a “Kindness Club” at her elementary school. Members patrol around at recess to make sure everyone has a friend and generally promote kindness, and that’s a pretty cool idea for a little girl to come up with on her own.
Harper created flyers, made sign-up sheets, bought pencils to pass out, and met with principal to explain the Kindness Club and get permission to hang her signs on campus. The principal gave the green light and by the end of the day, she had 45 students signed up. And her mom, Taylor, says she did it all on her own.
“If everyone out there pledged to do one kind thing everyday, think of how the world would change,” Harper says. “All the good deeds would multiply, and in a few years, good would win over bad.” Wise words from an amazing kid!
