“Jeopardy!” champ winning streak ends

Eccentric “Jeopardy!” champ Austin Rogers finally saw his 12-game winning streak come to an end yesterday. Over the 12 episodes, the quirky New York City bartender won an astonishing $411,000, but finally lost to Scarlett Sims,by a margin of just $51.

“I set myself a goal of two wins, and I exceeded that expectation,” Rogers said in a press release. “I mean, I always wanted validation that I'm smarter than everyone, and now, when in an argument, I can just say 'SCOREBOARD!' and point to an imaginary Jumbotron.”

Rogers became a bit of a celebrity from his “Jeopardy!” stint, not just because of his big winnings but because of his oddball behavior, especially his tendency to pantomime things during his introductions. While some people may have hated him, many fans loved his antics and are sad to see him go.

“Austin Rogers is a National treasure,' one fan wrote. "One of the most entertaining #jeopardy champion,” while a hater noted, “I still hate #austinrogers but I'm STILL watching him on.”

But fans won’t be missing Rogers for too long. He’s due to compete in the Tournament of Champions, which kicks off November 6th.
