“Kindness Warriors” Give Out Gift Cards To Buy Hurricane Supplies

While folks across Florida are preparing for Hurricane Irma, in the Tampa area, volunteers with the charity Hands Across the Bay are handing out gift cards to those stocking up on storm survival supplies. They’re calling themselves “Kindness Warriors” and they are making people happy in the midst of a stressful situation.

The volunteers explain that they’re giving the gift cards out when they have a gut feeling about someone who could use some help. And for some people, that $50 gift really helps take the burden off of preparing for the hurricane. The Kindness Warriors expect to give away about $2,000 in gift cards.

“It’s all about the little things we can do,” explains volunteer Dee Schuler. “And when we all come together, we can make a huge difference.”
