We’re all looking for ways we can help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and one St. Louis mom found a unique way she could lend a hand: by donating breast milk. Danielle Palmer’s son was born with a congenital heart defect, so she pumped and saved lots of her breast milk when he was unable to eat.
So when Palmer heard about a group seeking donations of breast milk after the hurricane, she was happy to donate some from her freezer. She gave 1,040 ounces, which is about 346 feedings worth, to families in need after the storm. That makes for a lot of happy babies!
When Palmer thought of those who lost their stash of milk and pumps, she was more than happy to help share hers. “I knew I could share that with someone,” she says. “The least I can do is give back to someone in need. I’m overjoyed that I can help.”
