Marshawn Lynch may not have played in the NFL last season, but he sure was paying attention to it—especially games in the Bay Area where he is currently playing.
Because Lynch opened up his first preseason game like he was still retired—sitting down.
Yup, and of course the only reason I bring it up is because he did it during the national anthem.
And here’s the thing—no one really cared—including his head coach, Jack Del Rio.
"[Lynch] said, 'This is something I've done for 11 years. It's not a form of anything other than me being myself,'" Del Rio said. "I said, 'So you understand how I feel. I very strongly believe in standing for the national anthem, but I'm going to respect you as a man. You do your thing, and we'll do ours.' So that's a non-issue for me."
Odd thing is that photos circulated on social media yesterday showing Lynch standing for the anthem during his Seahawks days, including for Super Bowl 49.
You probably only remember him standing on the one that game, watching Russell Wilson throw the game away.
