A family in Austin, Texas was reunited with their stolen puppy thanks to help from a TV news crew and local police. Karl Kupecz shared the news in a Facebook post that his new puppy, Bear, was taken from his yard and the community came together to help track the pet and alleged thief down.
Kupecz shared his home security video and photos of the woman who appears to take Bear and filed a police report and then a CBS Austin crew doing a story about the theft saw someone walking down the street who looked like the suspect. After chasing her down with the news crew, he called 911 and the police helped chase her down. They caught her and Bear was located and is doing fine now.
“This was a community effort with the police, social media, news crews, pedestrians etc.,” Kupecz writes about the effort to find Bear in an update on Facebook. “I can't begin to express how thankful our family is for everyone’s help and getting the word out.”
