#GoodNews: Cop Dresses As Superheroes For Kids In Hospital

Texas police officer Damon Cole wanted the kids he comes in contact with at work to know they could trust him and that officers are always there to help, so he sewed a Superman logo on his bulletproof vest. And when he meets a kid on a call, he instantly wins them over when they see he’s really a superhero, which makes it easier for him to help them.

Cole has now taken his superhero gig one step further and started dressing up in costume to visit young kids battling serious illnesses. Kids write to him through his website to request a visit, and he travels to meet them, playing Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and Optimus Prime all over, from Texas to New York City. All this while being a full-time police officer and father.

“I want to inspire people,” Cole says. “I want someone to look at me and say, because of you I didn’t give up.” Talk about being a superhero!
