A pair of sisters are helping strangers stay warm in New Mexico this winter. Sarah Jean Gomez and Carolina Gore of Las Cruces have been crocheting scarves for a few months now for folks they’ll probably never even meet.
The sisters tie their creations around telephone poles, signs, and lights and included with each one is a note that reads: “I’m not lost; please take me with you if you are cold. Stay warm. God Bless.” So far they’ve donated 86 scarves to anyone in need this winter.
The scarves created by the sisters are part of a nationwide scarf-hanging movement called “Chase The Chill.” People across the U.S. are knitting and crocheting scarves and hats to leave in public places for anyone to take. And this is one trend we hope sticks around.
