Meghan Markle and fiancé, Prince Harry, spent a peaceful Christmas day with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the family in the English countryside. While the newly engaged couple is busy hashing out details of their upcoming wedding, reports say Harry and Markle‘s guest list may be the source of some tension. Politically, at least.
Officials with the British government are reportedly concerned that President Donald Trump will be offended if not invited to the nuptials and former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are.
“Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness,” a source reportedly said. “Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen.”
But let's not forget...Harry has a long-standing friendship with the Obamas. They've even hung out at each other's homes, most recently when the Obamas were hosted by the royals for dinner at Kensington Palace last year. The prince has also worked with the Obamas on several initiatives, including the 2016 Invictus Games.
On the upside? Harry and Meghan’s wedding is expected be a bit more relaxed than William and Kate's 2011 affair, meaning that there will be fewer foreign dignitaries and heads of state on the guest list.
