Network Of Canadian Truckers Reunites Lost Pets With Owners

It’s always a happy relief when a pet owner finds out their lost pet has been found. But if that dog is found hundreds of miles from home, that joy can fade if they have to stress about how to get that pet back home. But in Canada, a national network of truck drivers has formed to reunite the four-legged babies with their families.

Margaret Foster, a former trucker, started Furry Hobos N Highway Heros in 2013 and she’s reconnected about 400 dogs with their people so far. The group invites dog-loving truckers to drive missing animals back home. Since truck driving can be so lonely, the companionship is great for the drivers while they’re helping out a family in need.

“We call it just paw it forward, eh?” Foster says of the free service. “If people can only do it for money than you're not doing it for the right reason.”
