Jimmy Kimmel Returns To Late Night With A Mission

Jimmy Kimmel returned to his late-night ABC show Monday night ready to fight.

The host walked on the set with his eight-month-old son, Billy, and a plea for health care reform. Kimmel was absent last week as his son underwent a second heart surgery for a serious defect he's had since birth. The proud dad was visibly emotional talking about the surgery but said his son is doing well.

Kimmel took the opportunity to ask Congress to continue funding the Children's Health Insurance Program which expired in October. He blasted lawmakers for letting program funding lapse while they worked on "getting tax cuts for their billionaire and millionaire donors." Going on the attack, he went further. “Now CHIP -- [it] has become a bargaining chip. It's on the back burner while they work out the new tax plans,” Kimmel said. “Parents of children with cancer, diabetes and heart problems are about to get letters saying their coverage could be cut off next month. Merry Christmas, right?

By the way, Billy has one surgery left.
