Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is showing steady improvement in his recovery from spinal stabilization surgery.
ESPN reports Shazier remains hospitalized as doctors continue to wait for the swelling and bruising in his back to subside.
Shazier suffered the scary injury last Monday against the Bengals in Cincinnati, and underwent surgery on Wednesday.
It remains unclear if he will ever be able to play football game.
Shazier leads the team with 89 tackles this season.
He also posted 11 passes defensed, three interceptions and two forced fumbles in 12 games for the Steelers.
