Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer may be on his way to one more benching…permanently.
That’s because his head coach Hue Jackson, who has already benched him on several occasions, admitted recently that Kizer was running out of time to win this job.
Jackson said he still believes Kizer can be the team’s quarterback of the future but also noted, “We can’t have too many good quarterbacks on this football team.”
Translation? The 2018 NFL draft has more potential franchise QB’s than recent memory and it would be hard to pass them up if our current starter was so bad that he couldn’t win a single game and, in doing so, gave us our choice of all of them with the number one overall pick.
Kizer has gone 0-10 in his starts, is completing just 52.5 percent of his passes, has thrown just six touchdowns and a league-worst 15 interceptions. He’s also lost five fumbles for a grand total of 20 turnovers.
In case you’re wondering why he missed two starts – one was for poor play and the other was a disciplinary move when he was caught drinking in a bar late Friday night before a Sunday game.
Hey, in his defense, I can’t imagine anyone on the Browns is doing much celebrating after a game.
