When Pilar Koussaf was planning her wedding, one thing she didn’t have to decide on was what to wear. A cream-colored silk wedding gown has been worn by brides in her family for 86 years, starting with her great-grandmother, Maria, back in 1931.
Pilar recently tied the knot wearing that same gown, 86 years later. She’s the fourth bride in her family to continue the tradition of wearing the family dress. The only time the dress skipped a generation was when Maria’s daughter Anita got married in 1957 and the gown didn’t fit so she couldn’t wear it.
But Pilar was lucky that the dress was her size so she could be married in that piece of family history. "I tried it on and it fit me like a glove," she says. "And I knew right then that it was the one.
