This five-year-old boy believes he’s a superhero to the homeless cats on the streets of Philadelphia. Shon Griffin, a.k.a. “The Catman” has been helping his aunt, who’s been involved with cat rescues and fosters, for years. And he does it all wearing superhero costumes.
Shon’s aunt, Kris Papiernik, says she was hesitant at first to let her nephew, who was only three at the time, around the feral cats. But the animals took to the toddler, one cat who wouldn’t go near anyone came right up to Shon and allowed the boy to pet him. That cat has become one of the friendliest in the colony
Now that “The Catman” knows he has stray cat superpowers, he visits them regularly with his aunt, helping with the 45 cats under her care at four locations in the city. “He truly loves them, and they love him back just as much,” Aunt Kris says.
