The NBA season tipped off with Kyrie Irving's three-point attempt falling short at the buzzer to give the Cavaliers a 102-99 win against the Celtics at Quicken Loans Arena.
Irving scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists versus Cleveland, his former team that traded him to Boston during the offseason.
LeBron James carried the Cavs, tallying 29 points, 16 rebounds and nine helpers.
Cleveland led by 16 at halftime, but Boston was able to make things interesting in the second half.
The game was overshadowed by a gruesome injury to Boston wing Gordon Hayward in the opening quarter. He suffered a broken left ankle.
