With the health of quarterback Marcus Mariota up in the air, the Titans have signed free agent Brandon Weeden.
And when you couple that washout at QB with the fact that, if Mariota is unable to go on Sunday, the ball will go to backup quarterback Matt Cassel, the QB situation isn’t up in the air anymore.
It’s at rock bottom.
Coach Mike Mularkey said Mariota could be a game-time decision for Sunday’s game at Miami, but if he is unable to go on Sunday then the ball goes back in the hands of Cassell who went 4-of-10 for 21-yards with two interceptions.
Which is so bad that signing Weeden—who hasn’t played since 2015 and has thrown 31 touchdowns to 30 interceptions—actually seemed like a good idea.
It was nearly as stupid as keeping Matt Cassell as a backup.
The Titans are in trouble.
