You know what this winless Chargers team has in common with their new home in Los Angeles?
Just like mostly everybody else in the city—they are transplants.
Which is why there are so many fans of every other team in the league, or based on what we’ve seen through the first month of the season even more that there are fans of the Charger team playing on the rented high school field that is StubHub Center.
And if it wasn’t apparent in their week two loss to the Dolphins in which the Dolphins fans seemed to outnumber the Charger fans—it was painfully obvious yesterday as the Eagle fans literally took over the stadium.
In fact, at one point—with the Chargers facing a key third down—it was the Eagles defense that called one the crowd for noise and they got it!!!
“Nauseating. Everybody knows we’re not wanted here. LA doesn’t want the Chargers,” said a Charger fan on Eagles fans taking over StubHub Center yesterday.
And it’s not just the fans as the players notice it too.
“Sixteen away-game season! Every game’s an away game!”
Those words were actually overheard ringing from a frustrated LA Chargers locker room after Sunday’s 26-24 loss to the Eagles—their third loss this year three points or less.
As bad as it is, I will tell you what not to expect, things to turn around anytime soon.
Because that is as unlikely as the team turning around and returning to San Diego.
