After struggling with type 2 diabetes all her life, Erica Walker’s health was getting worse. She was diagnosed with stage 4 chronic kidney disease after the birth of her daughter, Karli, and needed a transplant.
So the single mom reached out to her church, Heartsong United Methodist in Tennessee, for support and prayers. And got so much more. After hearing Walker’s story, Jenny Williams, a mother of five daughters herself, offered to be a donor for the church friend she’d only known for a few months.
The transplant went well and Walker is already feeling better and she’s incredibly grateful for Williams’ gift of life. Because of her, Walker says, “I have a chance to raise my daughter and she doesn’t have to grow up without a mom.”
