Cruise lines have cancelled scheduled trips because of Hurricane Irma, but they’re putting those empty ships to good use. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have both sent cruise ships to help those on Caribbean islands that were hit hard by the storm.
Royal Caribbean had one ship making a stop in St. Maarten and another heading to St. Thomas, both of which suffered extensive damage from the hurricane. And Norwegian Cruise Line is also sending a ship to St. Thomas to deliver supplies and help with a humanitarian effort.
More Royal Caribbean ships are also ready to help out in Florida, one to Key West, which took a beating from Irma. They even used the same ship to help evacuate their own employees and their families from Miami before the storm hit.
