While trying to escape the flooding in Houston, Da’Jauh Hennix trudged through water up to her neck holding her eight-month-old daughter, Paige, up over her head. Thankfully, Corporal Reed Clark with the Harris County Constable’s Office saw her struggling as he was on a personal watercraft on her street and offered help.
Clark picked up baby Paige and told Hennix that her baby would be waiting in a black truck at the front of the road. But when the mom got there, she couldn’t find them and spent hours searching for her daughter and the officer.
That’s when she decided to let Facebook help her search and that’s exactly what Clark had done as well when he couldn’t find Hennix. He posted Paige’s photo, which was shared 32,000 times and viewed 2.6 million times and soon mama was reunited with her baby, who was safe, dry, and sleeping.
“She is the perfect example of a great mother,” Clark explains. “She didn’t say ‘help me’ one bit, she handed her baby over and said, ‘Help my baby, get my baby out of here.’”
