Residents Rescued From Flooded Texas Nursing Home

Pictures of elderly nursing home residents sitting in wheelchairs and leather recliners in waist-deep water has led to an emergency evacuation of a nursing home in Dickinson, Texas.

The women were covered by sopping wet blankets in a few feet of water.  Galveston County Commissioner Ken Clark says 20 to 25 residents at La Vita Bella nursing home were safely removed from the building.

County Emergency Management Coordinator David Popoff tells the "Galveston County Daily News" the women were rescued by helicopter.

Dickinson is 18 miles southeast of Galveston an area inundated with floodwaters from Tropical Storm Harvey.
