Witnesses in New York City say a good Samaritan climbed across a girder to talk a suicidal woman from jumping at a subway station Saturday. The man went out about 10 feet onto a beam 20 feet above the platform to calm her and keep her company.
The incident took place at the Broadway-Lafayette subway station in the East Village. Subway riders watched the drama unfold while the man tried to coax the stranger into staying safe.
Eventually, the police arrived and were able to get the young woman down and took her to an ambulance. Thank goodness that stranger was in the right place at the right time and was willing to do what he could to save her life.
