As Sarah Sommer walked down a street in midtown Manhattan, she accidentally dropped her wedding ring and engagement ring and they fell down into a sidewalk grate. The eight-months pregnant woman couldn’t believe her bad luck, but she had a great idea how to get her treasured jewelry back.
Sommer spotted a Con Edison truck and asked the workers inside for assistance retrieving her wedding rings. Jason Wertheimer andKenyatta Charles were more than happy to help. The men got to work, found the rings and even refused a cash reward from Sommer.
“It was a good deed for the day,” Wertheimer says, “that’s how we look at it.”
