On how his shoulder is feeling:

“A little bit better than Sunday, but it is going to be sore and it is going to be achy. Just have to deal with it.”

On having the mindset that during this week’s game at some point he will have to manage the pain from the shoulder injury:

“Yeah, that is just what it is. As soon as it is ready to settle in and feel a bit better going in and make another play or getting hit, whatever it is. That is part of the game.”

On if the play from last week’s game was one of the worst occasions where he didn’t receive a holding call when he thought he should have:

“I honestly can’t even say that. That might be No. 2. There was one against the Chargers at their place one time, and I think it was (former Chargers and free agent T) Russell Okung dragged me down by like my horse collar. I think that might be No. 1 just because it was from the backside, but that one on (Buccaneers T) Donovan (Smith) was pretty bad, too.”

On if ever he received an explanation from the officials about why holding penalties were not called:

“They told me a couple of times that since I was fighting through the hold that it is not a hold. He called it a hold himself. I don’t really understand. I think it is just a reason for me to not have three a game.”

On if it is frustrating to not receive holding calls:

“Yeah, it almost feels sometimes like we are being like targeted to not be called for these holds or for them not to be called with holding. I don’t understand the reasoning or the logic behind it because they are obvious holds, not just on me but on us as a D line. I think we have the fewest of the league. They are out there, they are apparent and yet we don’t get credit for them.”

On past comments that it sometimes feels like he is getting the ‘Shaq treatment,’ in reference to NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal potentially being subject to different approach to penalty calls than other players:

“That is what my dad called it (laughter). For sure still feel like I am getting that treatment. I just feel like me as an elite pass rusher and I think all of us get that kind of treatment, but they might be getting a little bit more help from the officials than we have.”

On a report listing him as owning the highest pass rush rate in the NFL while also being the most double-teamed player in the NFL and if it feels like he is receiving the most double teams:

“Absolutely. I remember the last year and the last two years I have been double teamed a lot. I feel like it has been that Jets game and the Steelers game where they just walked the tight end to whatever side I went to whether I switched or not. It was funny to see. It kind of made me feel good as far as the respect that they are paying me, but damn, I want to make some plays, too.”
